EFDS Inclusion Club Hub

EFDS W

Disability Toolkit for Clubs

The English Federation for Disability Sport has launched an on-line resource to help sports clubs that wish to become more disabled-friendly.

The Inclusion Club Hub is free to use and very straightforward.  After entering contact details there are five short sets of questions to answer, covering the main areas in which clubs might need to develop what they offer.  When the questions have been answered the system provides a "personalised toolkit" for your club, setting out helpful information and links on areas where development seems to be needed, and providing templates for documentation, etc.  Suggestions are also offered for future consideration on topics where the club is already working well.  The answers to the questions, together with all the toolkit information is automatically e-mailed in .pdf format, so that it is available for future reference.

The DSP's View

This is a useful tool for clubs that are wondering where to begin the task of catering for people with disabilities.  It breaks the whole task down under sensible headings, which makes it easy for a club to identify the areas that it needs to consider and work on.  The advice and information given is practical and realistic, even for clubs of modest size and budget.

Future Options

Clubs that are disabled friendly are invited to let us know, with a view to receiving certification as a DSP Club.  Those that are very accessible to a range of disabilities may wish to seek DSP Focus Club status.  If you are interested in these options, please contact DSP Co-ordinator Liz Woodall.
